Paris Refashioned: 1957-1968

Pierre Cardin Cosmos Dress - 1967

When I heard about this exhibition I was gutted that it was being shown in New York as it meant that I wouldn't get to see it. Paris Refashioned was an exhibition shown recently at the Museum at FIT looking at Parisian fashions of the 1960s and how the ready-to-wear revolution influenced haute couture.

Vintage Life Magazine Article

Last year Vintage Life Magazine got in touch with me via Instagram, asking if I'd like to put together an article giving an overview of the 1960s and an introduction to 1960s style. I'm pleased to say that not only was my article published in the April 2017 edition, it made the cover! Exciting times.

Eduardo Paolozzi at the Whitechapel Gallery

On Sunday, I  went down to the Whitechapel Gallery in East London to see the Eduardo Paolozzi exhibition that's currently being shown there. I didn't know too much about him before I went so was interested to see what he was all about.

Space Age Interiors

No your eyes are not deceiving you, this isn't a photograph from a 60s magazine but a new collection by furniture and home accessories store Maisons Du Monde. The orange chair immediately caught my eye when I came across the photo on twitter the other day and I squealed with excitement when I realised it was a new range. Original pieces are becoming harder to find and more often than not end up going for a fortune at auction, so this range is great if you want to achieve the look without the eye-watering price tag!

Mary Quant: Fashion Icon at The Museum of Costume

Mary Quant: Fashion Icon is an exhibition currently on at The Museum of Costume in Manchester. Celebrated as the most famous female fashion designer working in London in the 1960s, Mary Quant dressed an international clientele of the young and hip, creating her famous Chelsea look.

No Colours Anymore I Want Them To Turn Black

I think I've finally cracked trouser making. This pair of black high-waisted trousers were made from a 1950s McCall's pattern using bi-stretch polyester fabric. I hadn't worked with this fabric before so wasn't sure what to expect, but I found it perfect for making trousers - so much so I've already ordered some more in different colours! The trousers are really comfortable to wear and I've worn them almost constantly since I made them a few weeks ago.

1960s Flower Power

This dress is one of my all time favourite vintage finds, I bought it at a vintage fair in Brighton about four years ago and it was the first thing I saw when I walked into the venue. It was at the end of a rack right in front of the door and as soon as I saw it I made a beeline for it. I knew just by looking at it that it would fit and got very excited. I was trying to remember if this dress has been featured on the blog before, I don't think it has but even so I think it's worthy of another post.

Christmas Outfits

Happy New Year! Today I thought I'd take a look back to last month and what I wore over the Christmas period.
